Safe Place and Rape Crisis Center, Inc. (SPARCC) is a non-profit agency that provides services to victims of domestic and sexual violence. Founded in 1979, SPARCC is the only state certified Domestic Violence Center in Sarasota and DeSoto Counties. SPARCC currently serves clients through a state-of-the-art shelter and Outreach Center, 4 transitional housing apartments, a satellite outreach office in South County, onsite advocacy service offices at the Sarasota, Venice and DeSoto County Courthouses, and their administrative and counseling offices located in downtown Sarasota. The organization also operates The Treasure Chest, a resale store which provides funding (approx. 7% of annual budget) for programs and services, as well as clothing and household items for SPARCC clients.
